Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) ha annunciato la motherboard siglata A790GXM-AD3, la prima in assoluto in grado di supportare i nuovi processori a 45nm AMD Phenom II su socket AM3 (peraltro non ancora lanciati dal produttore; l'annuncio ufficiale di tali chip è atteso durante il prossimo mese di Febbraio, ndr) e, nello stesso tempo, le memorie RAM di tipo DDR3, gestite anche in dual-channel, oltreché la tecnologia ATI CrossFireX di ultima generazione.

La nuova A790GXM-AD3 (cfr. la foto che segue) è basata sul chipset northbridge 790GX e sul chipset southbridge SB750, entrambi "made by AMD"; come già notato, può ospitare DIMM di RAM DDR3 operanti a 1333MHz per un totale di 32GB; include inoltre un chip grafico di classe ATI Radeon HD 3300, utilizzabile in abbinamento a due schede grafiche esterne connesse mediante ATI CrossFireX in virtù del supporto della tecnologia ATI Hybrid Graphics.

ECS non ha chiarito quale sia, per l'utente finale, il prezzo di questa mobo - evidentemente gaming-oriented - a causa del fatto che i processori per i quali è stata progettata non sono ancora in commercio.
