Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, Palit Microsystems ha lanciato la video card Palit GTX260 Sonic 216SP.
In accordo al produttore, si tratta della prima soluzione in assoluto in grado di vantare la dotazione di una gpu NVIDIA di classe GeForce GTX 260 - fabbricata con un processo tecnologico a 55nm (216 SP) - abbinata a un sistema di raffreddamento proprietario di tipo dual-fan e caratterizzato da tre heat pipe (il regime di rotazione delle ventole è una funzione della temperatura della gpu ed è controllato in PWM, Pulse-Width Modulation, ndr).
La personalizzazione del progetto reference eseguita da Palit, al pari della efficienza energetica che è tipica dei processori grafici a 55nm, ha permesso di innalzare la frequenza di clock dei componenti cardine, il che assicura ovviamente un boost prestazionale avvertibile in primis dai gamer, che rappresentano il vero target di questo controller, definibile come un "overclocked by factory".
La gpu della Palit GTX260 Sonic 216SP lavora a 625MHz (il valore reference della frequenza di clock del core è pari a 576MHz) mentre la memoria RAM (896MB di G-DDR3) a 2200MHz (il valore reference è in questo caso pari a 1998MHz). L'interfaccia tra gpu e RAM è implementata, al solito, attraverso un bus a 448-bit.

Dual Fan Double Coolness:
