Sapphire ha annunciato le schede grafiche di fascia alta SAPPHIRE HD 5850 TOXIC Edition e SAPPHIRE HD 5850 Vapor-X. Seguono il comunicato stampa dell'azienda e le foto di entrambe le nuove schede grafiche.

Combinando l’affermata architettura grafica della serie HD 5000 con la sua premiata tecnologia di raffreddamento Vapor-X, SAPPHIRE Technology sta lanciando due nuove schede grafiche, i modelli SAPPHIRE HD 5850 TOXIC Edition e SAPPHIRE HD 5850 Vapor-X.

I modelli SAPPHIRE HD 5850 TOXIC Edition e SAPPHIRE HD 5850 Vapor-X sono entrambi design originali SAPPHIRE basati sulla più recente architettura grafica a 40 nm della divisione ATI di AMD. Entrambi i modelli presentano 1440 processori stream e 72 unità texture che garantiscono la massima velocità prestazionale della categoria e supportano la tecnologia Stream di ATI. Inoltre supportano le avanzate funzioni grafiche di DirectX 11 con una chiarezza video, velocità ed effetti visivi spettacolari anche con più monitor lavorando al contempo a temperature inferiori e assai più silenziosamente grazie alla premiata tecnologia di raffreddamento Vapor-X di SAPPHIRE.

Progettata per gli appassionati, la SAPPHIRE HD 5850 TOXIC Edition viene fornita di fabbrica già overclocked con velocità di 765 MHz (core) e 1125 MHz (4500 MHz effettivi) (memoria). Il modello HD 5850 Vapor-X di SAPPHIRE è anche più veloce della HD 5850 di serie, con velocità di clock di 735 MHz (core) e 1050 MHz (4200 MHZ effettivi) per la memoria. L’avanzata tecnologia Vapor-X di SAPPHIRE non consente solo un miglioramento di 15 gradi centigradi in termini di raffreddamento* e di 10 dB a livello di silenziosità* rispetto al modello standard, ma garantisce anche ulteriori possibilità di ottimizzazione delle prestazioni (overclocking).

I modelli SAPPHIRE HD 5850 TOXIC e Vapor-X sono estremamente veloci con i giochi e le applicazioni delle attuali DirectX 10.1, DirectX 10 e DirectX 9.0 e con le nuove versioni software che utilizzano DirectX 11 garantiscono stupefacenti livelli di dettaglio, trasparenza ed effetti luce. Il tutto consumando meno di 160 W e, con il Dynamic Power Management, una nuova modalità idle ad alto risparmio energetico a meno di 30 W.

Entrambe le schede sono dotate delle caratteristiche più all'avanguardia per supportare Microsoft DirectX 11, incluse le istruzioni DirectCompute 11, la tessellazione hardware e la comunicazione multi-threaded con la CPU di sistema. Fra queste caratteristiche avanzatissime rientrano nuove capacità di interazione fra oggetti trasparenti, nuovi effetti luce e post-elaborazione più rapida, nonché calcoli fisici e video transcoding accelerato.

I modelli della serie SAPPHIRE HD 5850 integrano il più recente decoder UVD (Unified Video Decoder) per la decodifica hardware accelerata di contenuti su supporti Blu-ray e HD DVD sia per i codec VC-1 e H.264 che per file Mpeg, riducendo considerevolmente il carico di lavoro sulla CPU. In questa serie l'UVD è stato ottimizzato per riuscire a decodificare simultaneamente due flussi video HD 1080p e visualizzare video HD ad alta qualità con modalità Windows Aero abilitata. Anche la capacità HDMI è stata aggiornata alla versione HDMI 1.3a con supporto Dolby TrueHD e DTS-HD Master Audio.

Oltre a una chiarezza dell'immagine, una velocità ed effetti visivi spettacolari, la serie SAPPHIRE HD 5000 supporta una nuova modalità multi-monitor chiamata ATI Eyefinity. Ciò consente a una singola GPU di visualizzare una selezione di immagini su una serie di diversi monitor. Grazie alla sua versatile configurazione con due connettori Dual-link DVI più HDMI e DisplayPort, la serie HD 5850 supporta fino a tre monitor** in modalità ATI Eyefinity con una risoluzione fino a 7680 x 1600, aprendo interessanti possibilità non solo per il gaming multischermo ma anche per sistemi d'informazione, multimediali e display promozionali.

La serie SAPPHIRE HD 5800 è dotata del driver grafico con certificazione WHQL per DirectX 11 di AMD che supporta tutte le caratteristiche chiave di DirectX 11 richieste per nuove esperienze di gioco e per accelerare le applicazioni ad alte prestazioni della prossima generazione nonché la tecnologia ATI Stream e ATI Eyefinity.

Combining the highly successful HD 5000 series graphics architecture with its award winning Vapor-X cooling technology, SAPPHIRE Technology is now shipping two new graphics cards - the SAPPHIRE HD 5850 TOXIC Edition and the SAPPHIRE HD 5850 Vapor-X model.

The SAPPHIRE HD 5850 TOXIC Edition and the SAPPHIRE HD 5850 Vapor-X models are both SAPPHIRE original designs based on the latest 40nm graphics architecture from the ATI division of AMD. Both models feature 1440 stream processors and 72 texture units delivering the fastest performance in class as well as supporting ATI Stream technology. They support the advanced graphical features of DirectX 11, and deliver spectacular video clarity, speed and visual effects, including over multiple monitors whilst working at lower operating temperatures and significantly more quietly because of the SAPPHIRE award winning Vapor-X cooling technology.

Designed for the enthusiast user, the SAPPHIRE HD 5850 TOXIC Edition is factory overclocked to 765MHz core and 1125MHz (4500MHz effective) memory speeds. The SAPPHIRE HD 5850 Vapor-X model is also faster than the standard HD 5850, with shipping clocks of 735MHz core and 1050MHz (4200MHZ effective) for the memory. SAPPHIRE's World leading Vapor-X technology not only allows the cards to run as much as 15 degrees C cooler* and 10dB quieter* than the standard models, it provides additional headroom for further performance tuning (overclocking).

The SAPPHIRE HD 5850 TOXIC and Vapor-X models speed existing DirectX10.1, DirectX 10 and DirectX 9.0 games and applications, and support stunning new levels of detail, transparency and lighting effects in the latest releases of software using DirectX 11. All of this comes with the modest active power consumption of less than 160W - and using Dynamic Power Management the card has a new super low-power idle mode at less than 30W.

Both cards support the latest features demanded by Microsoft DirectX 11, including DirectCompute 11 instructions, hardware Tessellation and multi-threaded communications with the system CPU. These combine to provide new capabilities for the interaction between transparent objects, new lighting and accelerated post processing effects as well as physics calculations and accelerated video transcoding.

The SAPPHIRE HD 5850 models have the latest on board hardware UVD (Unified Video decoder) considerably reducing CPU load and delivering smooth decoding of Blu-ray and HD DVD content for both VC-1 and H.264 codecs, as well as Mpeg files. In this series the UVD has been enhanced to be able simultaneously to decode two 1080p HD video streams and to be able to display HD video in high quality with Windows Aero mode enabled. HDMI capability has also been upgraded to HDMI 1.3a with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio support.

In addition to spectacular image clarity, speed and visual effects, the SAPPHIRE HD 5000 series supports a new multi-monitor mode known as ATI Eyefinity. This allows a single GPU to display a choice of images over an array of several monitors. With its versatile output configuration of two Dual-link DVI connectors plus HDMI and DisplayPort, the HD 5850 series supports up to three monitors** in ATI Eyefinity mode, with a resolution of up to 7680 x 1600. This opens up exciting possibilities not just for multi-screen gaming, but also for information systems, multimedia systems and promotional displays.

The SAPPHIRE HD 5800 series is supported by AMD's DirectX 11 WHQL certified graphics driver which delivers support for all of the key DirectX 11 level features required for new gaming experiences and acceleration of next generation high performance applications as well as ATI Eyefinity and ATI Stream technology.
