Taipei
, Taiwan , July 29, 2005 – IWILL Corporation, a leading manufacturer of
high-end server, workstation and appliance solutions, is proud to
announce world's first high-memory capacity workstation and server
board. IWILL DK88, based on AMD Opteron ™ platform, can support up to
64GB memory. This solution is specially designed for the
memory-intensive applications, and allows the most applications,
especially in EDA/CAD/ rendering fields, running faster and more
stable.
IWILL DK88 successfully broke
the traditional memory capacity tolerance. There are totally 16 DDR
memory DIMMs (8 DIMMs per CPU) on board, and each DIMM could support up
to 4GB memory. It supports registered memory with ECC and chip-kill
function to fulfill the most critical task from Electronic Design
Automation market. As design sizes continue to increase, more and more
designs will exceed the current workstation's capacity. This leaves
designers struggling to find a way around the workstation's memory
limits. IWILL DK88 is a technology breakthrough to support EDA tools
well.
“IWILL has been dedicated on
workstation and server market for a long time, so we know how difficult
it is when an engineer ran EDA tools without sufficient memories. IWILL
DK88 is a key to facilitate development of EDA market.” said Mason Su,
General Manager of IWILL Corporation.
In
order to deliver the maximal memory capacity, IWILL chose digital
Voltage Regulator Module instead of the traditional aluminum
electrolytic capacitors. Because one of the key features for digital
VRM is its smaller footprint, it leaves enough room to put more memory
banks on board. It also avoids the risk of leaking capacitors damaging
systems. The electrolyte would not only cause the damage on the board's
elements, but also destroy your expensive peripheral accessories. To
