AMD ha presentato al grande pubblico i suoi primi quad-core Phenom revisione B3: questi chip, appartenenti alla linea Phenom X4, sono privi del ben noto bug relativo al TLB ed hanno quindi il compito di riscattare l'immagine e la posizione commerciale dei Phenom in generale, nonchè quello di spingere la piattaforma Spider, costituita, lo ricordiamo, da una motherboard basata sul chip-set AMD 790, sulla quale sono installati un Phenom quad-core, appunto, ed una scheda grafica della fascia ATI Radeon HD 3800.
Al momento la nuova gamma di cpu si compone di quattro modelli, le cui sigle sono elencate di seguito unitamente alla frequenza di clock di ciascuno dei quattro core di cui sono dotati: Phenom X4 9550 (2.2GHz), Phenom X4 9650 (2.3GHz), Phenom X4 9750 (2.4GHz) e Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition (2.5GHz).
Tra le tecnologie supportate dai nuovi quad-core segnaliamo l'HyperTransport 3.0 e la Cool’n’Quiet 2.0: la prima è orientata verso l'ottimizzazione delle performance e l'altra verso la riduzione del consumo di potenza.
