Con il seguente comunicato stampa VIA Technologies ha annunciato il server di storage VIA NSD7800. Si tratta di una soluzione, indirizzata alla fascia SOHO, per lo storage in ambito x86 che può gestire fino a 8 dischi rigidi (HDD), installati in vani da 3.5-inch.
Il nuovo NSD7800 fa della compattezza fisica (misura infatti soltanto 34cm x 34cm x 15cm) una delle sue peculiarità. Altra feature interessante è l'elevata efficienza energetica che deriva dalla adozione, da parte del produttore, del processore a basso consumo VIA C7-D a 1.5GHz.
Il Sistema Operativo eseguito è Microsoft Windows Home Server; tra le funzionalità assolte da questo prodotto vi sono la messa in sicurezza dei dati e la possibilità di accesso a questi ultimi da remoto.
